Digital Prepress
The Front End: Workstations
Arctic Printing employs Apple Macintosh workstations for the majority of our prepress services, as well as Pentium-class Windows PC's for handing files from Windows-using clientele.
We accept files from all the current major desktop publishing programs, as well as PDF's. For more information of supported applications and file formats, please see our Support Section.
We use the RAMpage RIP/Workflow to process our digital files for output. Built around OPI (Open Prepress Interface) and a page-independent workflow, RAMpage is extremely flexible for dealing with page revisions. RAMpage keeps RIP data in an unscreened format until final output to our platesetter, providing many avenues for output - whether it be soft-proofing or hard color proofs.

Fuji Dart CTP Thermal Platesetter
The Fuji Dart uses thermal laser technology to expose our printing plates. Coupled with the Fuji LH-PJ thermal plates we use, this combination provides extremely stable and accurate exposure. Our standard resolution is 2400dpi @ 200 line-screens for coated sheet printing, which produces smooth gradients, screens and dot rosettes.
Epson 7600 Inkjet with Ultrachrome Inks
Driven by the ORIS Color Management System, the Epson 7600 produces color-managed contract color proofs as well as non-contract proofs for construct proofing and dielines.
Regular calibration of the Epson 7600 and ORIS Color system are done with an ICColor 210 spectrophotometer.
Epson 4880 Inkjet
Also driven by our ORIS Color system, the Epson 4880 is used primarily for producing non-contract color and content proofing.
